「文字の力・書のチカラ Ⅱ　――書と絵画の対話」

日頃何気なく用いる言葉や文字には、悠久の歴史があります。これらが人の手により、筆墨で描かれた時、文字ははじめて「書」としての命を授かります。またそれは新たな姿と形をもった「チカラ」を宿す瞬間でもあります。
この展覧会では、書の世界に広がる様々な表現の特質を探るため、平安時代から現代に至るまでの魅力的な優品、約80点を厳選しました。特に書の中に秘められた絵画的な表現展開にも注目し、書表現における遊戯、遊楽の軌跡を探ります。

Various forms of characters are delineated by the quality of ink and the movement of the brush in the art of calligraphy. The means of expression gradually widened in the continuing tradition, to which were added innovative creations. Heavy, bold and black strokes, the serenity of light brushstrokes, and the emotion disguised in the soft run of light ink, were all elements of distinctive calligraphy of the period.
This exhibition will feature the development of these expressions in monochrome, exploring the power of the diffusion of the art of calligraphy.
